Welcome to Terrific Tigers. Our teacher is Mrs Yates and our teaching assistants are Mrs Palmer, Miss Mee and Mrs Buck. We're really looking forward to working hard and learning lots of new things in Year 2.
Look at our fantastic tiger pictures!
We have been learning about 2D shapes in maths. We started by sorting them in different ways and our partner had to guess how we had sorted them. Next we played Guess the Shape and had to ask questions about the number of sides and corners. We have started to draw pictures and patterns using 2D shapes.
We are really enjoying our PE sessions with Mr Hudson from Derby County. This week we have been using the apparatus to travel and balance in different ways.
Thank you to all the parents who came to our Literacy open morning and helped us to plan some fabulous stories.
Our Spa Day was brilliant! We learnt all about healthy eating and how we use all our senses to help us decide if we like certain foods or not. We had a relaxing time in Class 9, foot spas and nail painting in Class 8 and even a little bit of magic!
We have been learning about 3D shapes and trying to use the right maths vocabulary to describe them like faces, edges and vertices. We tried to make shapes from paper and construction - can you name them all?
We have been sorting different materials in science and trying to describe their properties.
Thank you to all the grown ups who came to the Maths Open Morning. We had a super time creating maps and planning a route to the treasure!
We have had a fantastic term in PE. We have all tried really hard to make up sequences with jumps, spins, twists and different ways of travelling.
We have been learning about life cycles and habitats in science and have been lucky enough to have some chicks in school!
We had a fantastic time on our trip to Rosliston Forestry Centre. We looked for minibeasts in different habitats and were nature detectives looking for clues about which animals lived in different places.
